Hospital

Well, we certainly have seen our share of sickness these last couple months....we had been doing so well to escape so much of it. But some how some where we managed to catch the bugs. Narah started the ball rolling with her Scarlet Fever, then Mummy came down with the Strep Throat...not too much longer and the kids all had their runny noses and coughs (this all seemed to be quite mild) however, poor little Mylo coped the worst and ended up getting worse not better and I made the call to take him in to emergency - he was not feeding well and had a very swollen, purple, sore looking eye - on top of his fevers and lethargy.

Mylo was admitted and had numerous tests done to try and find what was the problem - he was put on a drip and given antibiotics -and thankfully these seemed to do the job after 3 days and 3 nights he was allowed to come home. I certainly was happy about this!! Sleeping in hospital with a sick baby is certainly NO HOLIDAY!!

We have a wonderful family who were so very helpful and supportive and made things so much easier for us and we are so very thankful to them all.

I really feel for all those families who have really sick little ones, constantly in and out of hospital. It is so very hard and emotionally draining.

So this week my beautiful friends had birthdays.  So I made them a cake each and we were able to get together for morning tea to share some time.

Park playing

Kids never grow tired of "the park". After a few days being inside due to the weather it was nice to get out and feel the sun agian. Although it was still very fresh, the sun shining was and always is pleasant.

Our week is now half over and before we know it we will be back into the swing of School for another term. I am feeling ok about this, although sometimes it feels hard to juggle my time with all the kids. My second youngest is at the most difficult age of 17mnths and wanting my time so much and there is also juggling my 5mnth old and 4 year old.... sigh.....I would like to be better organised and usually try and start that way, but somewhere along the road it turns to utter chaos (or so it feels).

My thoughts are to have three distinct times for school - Morning (9-10) where we will do english/phonics/reading and handwriting then a Midday session (11-12) where we will do Maths and finally an aftrenoon session (2-3) where we do our science and sose alternatively.

It will be great for the 2 school aged children to have Gym on a Wed afternoon to break up their week.

We struggle to have the resources for the younger ones to be occupied while I am getting the older ones busy with what they need to do - although at 17mnths the most time they spend on something is about 2mins before wanting to get into something else......

I spent so much more time with my eldest working on understanding things than I feel I have with my second school aged child....so this term I hope to do that better and make sure she has a firm understanding of things and knows her phonograms well.
